This charmingly proportioned obelisk stacking box set comprises three separate trapezoidal boxes and a pyramidal top, which stack pleasingly together to hold your paper clips, stickers, postage stamps, keys, dice, seashells, marbles, cuff links-- any small things that you might need on your desk or dressing table.
An original design by Erika Stefanutti, each stacking set is crafted by hand with great care in the Parvum Opus studio. The piece shown here has been clad in our own Carta green porphyry paper on the exterior, with a limited edition Spanish hand-marbled paper for the interior. For your own project, you can compose your own lovely pattern combinations from our paper pattern library: select a pattern for the exterior (a different paper for each tier would be fun as well) and one pattern for the interior. Of course, if you need any advice on pattern selections, we're always happy to assist.
In ancient Egypt, obelisks were associated with the sun god Ra, and the obelisk form was created to represent a petrified ray of the sun. Herodotus was among the first to describe these forms, coining the term obelisk from the Greek obelus, or 'pointed pillar'. Obelisks continue to fascinate, and small-scale models crafted in a wide range of materials are prized by collectors across the globe. Our desk-scaled models pay homage to this tradition, and we hope they'll in turn spark curiosity for generations to come.
