Inspired by the magnificent architectural details in the drawing rooms of Sir John Soane's Museum in London, Parvum Opus founder Erika Stefanutti has designed an instantly classic wall bracket that is at once refined and forward-looking. Our Meander wall brackets are available in two elegantly-proportioned sizes, perfect for displaying your collections and curiosities.
As is our custom at Parvum Opus, our brackets have come to reality in a refreshingly direct way, via the spark of artistic creativity, to pencil and paper, to hammer, saw and paintbrush. Our Meander brackets are hand-built in wood by our partners at Senn Millworks in Detroit. With their subtle linen-white paint finish— reminiscent of the plaster ceiling that inspired them, they'll sit companionably with a variety of interior design styles. Since they've been so warmly received already, we'll be making every effort to keep a number of these in stock for immediate delivery.
The Meander pattern that inspired Erika is also known as a Greek Key or Fret, and is quite ancient. Fascinatingly, along with ancient Greece and Rome, variations of this motif appeared in Chinese, Mayan and Aztec cultures centuries before European contact. The term meander recalls both the twisting path of the Maeander River in present-dayTurkey, as well the labyrinth from Greek mythology. We find it wonderful that after thousands of years, this pattern is still capturing the imaginations of artists, architects and aesthetes, and we hope the same will be true for you, too.
